Saxophone Lessons in Manchester

From beginners to advanced: adults and children

Music Lessons for Children

I work with parents to understand their child’s goals and develop a bespoke curriculum. Whether they want to explore House, Jazz or Classical styles or simply play for fun, I can help. I keep parents up to date with their child’s progress through regular performances and consultations. Students will need to practice between sessions and the amount of practice needed will be based on how quickly they want to progress. In addition to Music Grade Examinations, I can also provide support for GCSE and A Level / IB students with their assessed performances.

Music Lessons for Adults

Whether you’re new to the saxophone or even music in general, I’ll take the time to understand your goals and set realistic timelines in order to achieve them. You can learn at a speed to suit you, securing a solid foundation to your technique and learning to play a variety of styles with a focus on your favourite. I hold bi-annual concerts to allow for performance opportunities and regular feedback is always given constructively. I would also be delighted to support you through the ABRSM or Trinity music exams if you wish to explore them. It is never too late to start your musical journey.

Online, In Person and Blended Saxophone Lessons

Although most of my students choose to have in person lessons in my own music studio, saxophone lessons are also available online. All you need is a phone or computer with either Whatsapp video, Facetime or Zoom.

Some of my students have also opted to have blended saxophone lessons: a mixture of online and in person lessons. This works particularly well for students who may have to travel a long distance to come to lessons and do not want to have a long drive every week.

Saxophone Hire, Purchase, Maintenance and Repair.

I have a very limited stock of saxophones for sale and hire to cater to people who are just starting out on their saxophone journey. If you do decide to start lessons with me, then I would be more than happy to offer help and advice with purchasing your first saxophone. I am also a fully qualified saxophone repairer and instrument technician, so I can give any saxophone you buy a good check over. My students all get 10% discount (labour only) on any work carried out. For more information on this, check out my FixMySax page.

  15. Brain Plasticity: Learning an instrument can enhance neural plasticity, which is the brain's ability to adapt and reorganise itself. This can have positive effects on learning other skills and maintaining cognitive function as you age.

What People Are Saying?

When I first went for saxophone lessons I was apprehensive as I couldn't play at all. However, Saira was so welcoming and friendly that she put me to ease straight away. Her love of music is infectious and that shines through in her teaching. She has been very patient and kind and her motivational approach has definitely helped me to play. The more I play the saxophone the more I love it and I couldn't have done that without Saira's expertise. I would definitely recommend her as she is a great teacher!

— Suzanne, Stockport

“Saira is a brilliant teacher: she’s super friendly and always goes the extra mile. Saira’s passion and skill makes the saxophone lessons even more exciting and enables you to find and play your best sound. She's helped me to refine and finesse my technique but above all to continue to love playing.I still have lots to learn but with her help I’m sure I’ll get there. Without a doubt I’d recommend Saira to anyone looking for lessons!”

— Laura, Manchester

Having “Always” wanting to play the Sax I finally succumbed and made my purchase, I then proceeded to mess around with it for a couple of years. I stumbled across Saira. She is without question one of the best teachers I have ever come across in my business and Personnel Life: somebody who takes the fear out of learning music and really puts a smile on your face. I suppose one of the biggest things for me was Saira has got me to believe in Me and every time I leave a lesson I have a spring in my step!
